Repair Cracked Paint On Walls

Spread a thin coat of ready mixed joint compound over uneven areas where you ve removed old cracked paint.

Once you have widened the crack clean the dust and other debris out of the crack using a paintbrush or vacuum. Then you only need a coat or two of the paint directly on the affected area. Paint over the crack with latex primer followed by wall paint. Use a 9 or 12 inch drywall knife.

The exception to this is if you used a paint and primer in one. Run the electric sander along the surface area of the cracked paint. To repair a concrete wall you will need an epoxy repair kit. If you don t use primer first your patched area won t blend in properly with the rest of the wall.

Spackling paste should be sanded down after it dries. I have over 20 years of experience painting including getting rid of old cracked paint and making walls look like new. You might need to use a step stool or ladder if you re dealing with higher sections of a wall. This gives the spackling or joint compound a larger surface to adhere to.

Begin your repair by tapping 3 inch finish nails partially into the crack every 12.
