The willow tea rooms at 217 sauchiehall street were designed by charles rennie mackintosh and margaret macdonald and opened in 1903.

The tea rooms are modelled on kate cranston s ingram street tea rooms from the early 1900s recreating the fabulous interiors from the white dining room and the chinese blue room. Mackintosh at the willow operates as a not for profit social enterprise creating training learning employment and other opportunities and support for young people and communities.

Celia bought the remains of the old willow tea rooms building on sauchiehall street to save it for glasgow and had a grand vision to reopen in time for mackintosh s 150th birthday in 2018. Located at 215 217 sauchiehall street the original willow tearooms building has undergone a sensitive and authentic restoration in a bid to return the building to its 1903 glory. We even have a vegan specific afternoon tea menu lovingly created by our head pastry chef sarah.
